Friends of East Bridgewater Trails


Mission Statement:

The Friends of East Bridgewater Trails will work to benefit the citizens of the Town of East Bridgewater and neighboring towns through the recreation and transportation opportunities offered by ongoing trail and greenway developments in the town. FEBT membership is open to East Bridgewater residents and others committed to increasing awareness of the health, recreation, educational and environmental benefits of local trails, and to supporting the creation and maintenance of paths for through the Town of East Bridgewater. These could include hiking, biking, and equestrian trails; historic walks; canoe and kayak passageways; accessible paths for people using walkers or wheelchairs; and habitat study areas.

Preliminary Goals:
-- Provide funding for a Stage 1 assessment of a potential rail-trail link for the Bay Circuit Trail in East Bridgewater
-- Work to complete the East Bridgewater portion of the 200-mile Bay Circuit Trail
-- Check the condition of the East Bridgewater section of the Wompanoag Commemorative Canoe Passageway
-- Offer opportunities to learn about creating, maintaining, and benefitting from trails, and to discover what is available in East Bridgewater
-- Work with groups such as Old Colony Planning Council, Plymouth County Development Council, East Bridgewater Open Space Committee, Girl and Boy Scouts, Friends of the Bay Circuit Trail, and the EB Historical Society, to coordinate plans and service activities.

The Friends of East Bridgewater Trails meet regularly, unless otherwise posted, on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7 PM in the 2nd Floor Conservation Commission Meeting Room of the East Bridgewater Town Hall, located at 175 Central Street, East Bridgewater, MA.

The December meeting has been cancelled. The January 2012 meeting will be held on Jan. 23 (4th Monday).
